BigRep printed an elaborate, contemporary villa concept in 1:50 scale in just 5 days, plus 1 day for slicing and 5 more for post-processing. The 3D model contains all the important complex elements in the intricate CAD design it is based on.
This technique is a new approach to architectural models which leaves the risks and compromises of more manual approaches behind for a fast, accurate, and top-quality solution.
In the Film:
• Learn how easy it is to 3D print a large-scale model from a CAD file
• See the accuracy and quality of finish with which a BigRep STUDIO reproduces a complex contemporary architectural structure
• Discover the advantage of this approach to production of architectural models over slower, more expensive and riskier traditional methods

Film Transcript:
The physical 3D model of a project is the best way to understand the project.
What is the relation between the project itself and the terrain, or how the light is entering the building?
It’s not just a way to save time using a 3D printer but it can also become actually a tool to improve your design.
Because you totally follow the process of the production of the model while you don’t spend time because it is the machine that is working, not you.
All the architects have a 3D model of their project. So you can just slice it and print it, that’s all.
If you want to use other technologies there is much more work from the 3d model to the realization.
While for the 3d printer as I said you just take the model, slice it, put it in the machine and it’s done.
Presentation is super important, it’s not just about having a good project but it matters a lot the way you present it.
And let’s be honest when you come to a meeting with a client with a 3D printed model the wow effect is guaranteed.
