Machining parts with undercuts in PowerMill 2022.0, using the Constant Z strategy, has been greatly simplified with improved collision avoidance. When using the automatic tool axis collision avoidance option, the tool axis is adjusted to clear any issues with undercuts, maintaining this angle until another angle change is needed. This allows for collision-safe toolpaths to be calculated, minimizing tool axis motion, and increasing the quality of the machined surface finish.
