The GENESIS Eco Screen: a fully 3D printed urban ecosystem

The GENESIS Eco Screen is a fully 3D printed urban biodiversity habitat designed by Lindsay Lawson at NOWLAB, BigRep’s innovation consultancy. The GENESIS takes advantage of solar radiation scans for agent-based modeling and parametric design to create a computer-generated product with unique characteristics suited to its environment. The design process ensures that every GENESIS iteration includes ideal placement for plants, insect habitats, and embedded channels for water flow and drainage. Measuring an impressive 4 by 4 meters, the GENESIS Eco Screen is installed in Berlin, Germany at Invalidenstraße 86. It's printed using BigRep PETG filament and BASF Innofil3D rPET made of 100% recycled PET printed on four large-format BigRep ONE printers.
