Thumb wheel (automotive application): Functional part in a single step

http://www.arburg.com – A three-component injection moulding machine produces thumb wheels for car interiors. High-quality plastic parts with soft-touch surface are created through a specific material combination. The horizontal and vertical injection units arranged in an L-configuration inject the basic body in PC, the electroplateable visible surface in ABS and the soft-touch surface in TPE in the 4-cavity mould. Part handling is performed by a vertical robotic system which is equipped with a freely moving X axis. An important feature is the programming of the entire production sequence via the central SELOGICA control system.
